Using the editor
Formatting as you go
Select any text and a toolbar appears above it, with the text style, bold, italic and links.
On a phone, the same tools sit in a bar above the keyboard, together with undo and redo.
Adding blocks
Type / on an empty line to open the block menu, and keep typing to search for a block. On a computer, the + beside a line opens the same menu.
On a computer, drag the handle beside a block to move it. On a phone, the + sits in the bar above the keyboard.
Photos and galleries
Images and galleries take photos from your files or your Photo Library. Make an image regular or wide, and give it a caption.
Embeds
Embeds show a video, post or route from YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Instagram, Spotify, Komoot or X. Readers load each one with a click.
Trip details
Stories also have trip details: the trip type, countries, dates, who travelled and the budget. Readers see them at the top of your story, and Explore filters by them.
Markdown shortcuts
In a story, chapters split the trip into parts and activities add detail inside a chapter. Articles use headings and subheadings instead.
Start a line with one of these and a space:
- ##
- Chapter or heading
- ###
- Activity or subheading
- -
- Bulleted list
- 1.
- Numbered list
- >
- Quote
Type --- on an empty line for a divider. These keys work on a selection:
- Ctrl or ⌘B
- Bold
- Ctrl or ⌘I
- Italic
- Ctrl or ⌘K
- Link
Saving and preview
Changes save on their own while you write, and the status at the top shows when everything is saved. Preview shows the post as readers will see it. Close it to keep writing.
Write together
Invite co-authors to a draft with Invite at the top, or under Settings → People. Everyone writes in the same draft at once, and the faces at the top show who is there. Only the account that owns the post can publish it.
Post settings
The gear at the top right opens the post’s settings: who can see it, its link, the excerpt, topics, how it looks in search and when shared, and the people writing with you. You can delete the post there too.
Publishing
A draft stays private until you publish it. Publishing takes three steps:
- Choose who can find the post: everyone, or only people with the link.
- Check the final review of the title, authors, link, visibility and excerpt.
- Then publish it. You can unpublish the post later from the same place.
